Frank Dean from Winnamucca, NV piloted this Polaris snowmobile powered quad over the top of Sand Mountain at high speeds. He was told to slow down at the flat spot, but he never saw it. "I knew I was in deep shit, when I saw the top & I was still on the gas ".
" When I went " Over The Top " I jumped as hard as I could, because I knew I did'nt want to land anywhere near that quad"

The "QuadFather" Paul Giddens was eating a
sandwich at his camp, and heard a multi cylinder quad screaming at a high rate of speed, so he watched the quad go up the hill and saw Frank go over the top. He hollered to his bud Nathan Wilkerson " He went over the top' " Over the top !!! " So they both jumped on their rides and rode up to see Frank out cold, and his face covered with sand. We got a real scare out of it. So happy he was wearing a helmet!!!! Frank did break 4 vertebra in his back but the Doc says he'll be Okay with some rest.
